Okay, so I've got a big old Eliot Spencer crush. I know this. I'll own up to it. I adore his entire attitude and I love how Christian Kane plays him and I even squealed over how his hair curled after he'd been tossed into the water. I felt ridiculous but I totally did it. see i can't slash nate or sophie with anyone else, there is too much 'parent' vibe going on there...and no i don't wanna talk about how that makes h/p/e sorta incestuous...blind spots and excuses or something.
personally, i prefer to use leverage as a crossover pairing sort of deal. with white collar and such shows.

Plus, the little rivalry thing Eliot's got going on with Sophie doesn't help matter for me. XD
But, I do agree that the OT3 is just a bit incestuous, especially when they're squabbling!
I have such a hard time trying to 'sex them up,' though. I have about FOUR failed Leverage fics on my harddrive that I just couldn't finish.

BUT i get that Eliot thing, he needs Nate less than the rest of them (Parker esp) and Hardison just likes people to see him do his awesome computer shit. Eliot chooses to be there because he's invested in keeping them people safe.

The only way I could see the Nate/Eliot working (but this might just be me), would be during the time that Nate is protesting how he is the honest man, while Eliot is saying "You keep telling yourself that", in that Eliot sees Nate's less honerable side, and still respects and loves him, while he loathes himself. See I could see a story there where Eliot teaches Nate to love himself, despite his flaws.
Ok, that is just me, isn't it.

And I do agree in that I could see Eliot helping Nate to accept himself (as opposed to Sophie who tried to change him). They're not really like an OTP, for me, though. =( They'd be more like a part of the OT5... Or they'd be a side dish to the Nate/Sophie and Eliot/Hardison/Parker...
