Cloverfield
So I went and saw Cloverfield the other day. WARNING! THIS MOVIE WILL MAKE YOU MOTION SICK. It would have been a decent flick if it weren’t for the fact the whole thing was shot Blair Witch style with a handheld camera that is constantly bobbing and weaving, and is ever so slightly out of focus for a good chunk of the film. I don’t usually get motion sick, but this film almost made me hurl all over the empty seat in front of me.
Other than that the acting was good and the film did a great job of building suspense. Maybe a little too good. Once the flic shows you what is really going on, it’s a bit anticlimactic. At the end of the movie, I felt like I had just finished watching a really long movie trailer since nothing had really been resolved.
If it weren’t for the fact that I was left feeling nauseous for the rest of the day I probably would have liked the film. As it stands I will not be going out to see the sequel, simply because I can’t stomach another bout of motion sickness like that, no matter how good the flic is.
