According to today's Sage Advice column:
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4mst/ask ... the upcoming D&D 4th Edition Player's Handbook is gatting new cover art. This is aparently due to "Foreign markets" complaining about the demonic tiefling depicted prominently on the cover.
Personally I'm glad that the art is being changed. While I personally don't mind the Tiefling, I know many might object to such a demonic figure being on the cover, as if D&D hasn't had enough problems with being mistaken for devil worship in the past. I'm really just glad that the PHB art is being changed because I thought it was the weakest of the three covers by far.
The poses of the two characters are supposed to bee cool and dynamic but they look stiff and awkward (and way too Mmorpg looking for my tastes). I prefer RPG art to depict interesting situations that evoke the imagination rather than just "cool" looking characters striking "cool" poses.
The real question is will they go so far as to change the image in the dragon's orb on the DMG (which currently depicts the same scene as the old PHB cover)?
