Parenthood is "Win"

Know what's more fun than trimming an infant's fingernails? Trimming his toenails. I'm pretty sure I just gave my son 10 soon-to-be ingrowns.

Know what's even better than when Gabriel pees in his bath? When he spits up. Half-digested, semi-solid, curdled, chunky spit-up. That then sticks to the baby bath when I rinse it out. Yummy!

And, if all that wasn't "win" enough (to use the expression of those crazy young people these days), ever since we got back from Florida Gabriel won't go to sleep unless I pin his arms down. He can be screaming himself magenta and flailing his feet into the air and arching his back up like he's on fire, but the second I hold his arms down he turns his head to the side and falls asleep. I don't even know what to make of this. He also now kicks his feet in his sleep so much that he's begun rotating in his sleep. It's not uncommon to find him 90 or even 180 degrees from the position we put him down in.

He's also developed a love/hate relationship with his bottle. Even when he's hungry he still fights it. I'm going to try faster-flow nipples (maybe he has to work too hard now to get a satisfying amount of formula), and this weekend we are going to start trying rice cereal. Key words there: "start trying". I bought a set of soft, tiny, plastic spoons: one smaller one, one longer-handled one. The idea is to use the longer one on ourselves so Gabriel gets the idea of how we eat with spoons. Carlos, who already eats baby food for fun, is over the freaking moon on this one. "You mean I have an excuse to eat rice cereal?"
