Such a tragedy

Jan 23, 2008 22:00

Much of today has been spent in a state of semi-shock. Of course, everyone over here is talking about Heath Ledger and what a tragedy his passing is. Our local news, which generally runs for an hour (including thirty minutes of current affairs) allowed forty-five minutes just on Heath and that was on two of the three commercial channels (I don’t ( Read more... )

I'm heartsick for his family finding out on the radio - what an awful way to get such news. But I'm SO glad he was in Perth for Christmas with his family and the media left him alone... I know he had a prickly relationship with the media, and I'm glad they left him be this time round. Apparently they knew he was there but just let him go. I'm so glad his family got to spend some time with him - I'm sure they'll cling to this over the coming months.

Yay for your new car!

I think it's just wonderful that he got to spend that time with his family. It's just a shame that no one thought to place a call to Australia, so they could be told about it in a more decorous way. You know, I don't think his coming home has ever caused a problem over here, because he grew up here and he's just able to go about his business without being mobbed.

It's very exciting looking at new cars, but it's so confusing!

I want a Honda Odyssey so bad I can taste it. I need to stop. *nods*

Such a tragedy. I was thinking of the chicken, too. :(

Really? They're one of the better if not best cars over here. Who makes the Commodore and the Falcon?

Bless them. ♥

They're seen as throw-away cars over here and they don't particularly cope well with our conditions (apparently). The Commodore is a Holden *g* and the Falcon is a Ford.

It's good he got to spend Christmas with his family, at least. I felt crushed when I read about his death yesterday. It was just shocking. I am going to miss him soo much as an actor. I watched Casanova the other day and I still can't get over how much I love his acting. The good always die young.. :(

When I originally read the article (weeks ago) I thought it was brilliant that he'd been able to come 'home' and spend that time with them without being hassled by the media or fans, and now it just seems even more wonderful that he was able to do that. You know, I don't think he's ever been mobbed in Perth.

That is so sad. I don't know what I would do if i found out about one of my children passing from the morning news. I would totally lose it. People over here are REALLY sad about it as are most people. I was so shocked.

I am happy for you, I hope that you find a nice car. I have a SUV and it is a 96 model, so I have decided that when I get my tax money in a few weeks it is going on a nicer and BIGGER car. The one thing I am looking for is CUP HOLDERS. I thought that not having them was no big deal, but i have had this car for almost 3 years and I would LOVE to have a cup holder in my next car..lol! (doesn't take much to make me happy)

I just can't imagine what his family went through when they heard that. I wouldn't blame them if they did lose it. Over here I think the whole city is devastated. We were all very proud that Heath was one of our homegrown boys and that he hadn't let all that fame go to his head.

Thanks! My current car is a '95 Corolla and I've been desperate to update it for years. Not that there's anything wrong with it - it's actually never let me down and it runs beautifully - but it's getting too small for the family and what we do :) My wish list is a little longer than cup holders (though they are on the list), but it's nothing I can't get in a standard model Commodore or Falcon *g*
