Warning: Whovian marathons may cause plot bunnies.

So with Friday being the 49th anniversary of the first episode of Doctor Who, my mother and I have been watching one serial of each Doctor to celebrate.  Which does lead to some plot bunnies.

The first was with The Daleks.  Which is a heck of a lot longer than I remember it being, btw.  Not a good choice for marathoning if you're starting late and a bit rushed.  Still, fun serial, and first you see of the Daleks.  It's back when the Daleks weren't just monsters, but were frightening because it could so very easily have happened to us.  It's a pity that most writers really lose track of that.  Cybermen have this problem too.  I haven't seen the Cybermen done right in a very long time, cause those should rightly be terrifying.

Digressing from the point though.  Along with the 60's sort of terror over nuclear weapons (which is something we have to sit and think about in this time for it to be frightening, but it's pretty scary to contemplate), you've got Barbara and Ian.  And lots of Barbara flirting with the Thals.  Now, Barbara and Ian are pretty much a OTP for me, but at the same time...  I couldn't stop thinking about what could have happened had she stayed behind with her crush.  It's an interesting sort of AU.  Barbara staying behind on Skaro to help rebuild the world.  Well, it's no different than the Brigadier in Masters of War. It could totally work.  And I could see her becoming a big boss lady while having her epic Thal romance on the side.  XD  Except I like her and Ian far too much.

The second plot bunny came while watching The Visitation.  Richard Mace is really a pretty fun character for a one off.  What if he had taken up the Doctor's offer for 'a lift'.  Which, considering Five still couldn't get Tegan back to Heathrow Airport, would probably take a while.  He'd have been an awesome companion!  He's older, for one, so outside of the norm for companions.  Plus he's an actor turned thief, which is an interesting skill set.  And you were going to kill of Adric anyway, so it totally doesn't give you too many characters to deal with.  It would have worked.  Though, I'm also quite curious as to his life after.  Him and that scientist guy from Image of the Fendal.  I thought they could both use some epilogues.  That's just me though.

In other news... I've gotten my prompts for the fic exchange.  One of the three was on my won't write list, which isn't stellar, but I should be able to work with one of the other two.  The first one was a little confusing, but the second at least fits one of the broad plots I was brainstorming that I could fit to various prompts.  I'm still fretting.  >.<   I probably will until I finish one of them.  Sigh.
