I've been trying to find time to post this update all day. Now, ironically, I have it only because the work that is piling up is stuff for my issue, so I can't work on it. It'll get dumped on me all at once and I'll have to review it.
Sigh.
I had an awful feeling about today ever since leaving work on Friday, and it turned out to be incredibly justified. Within minutes of arriving and starting work, I found a document that needed some attention, and fired off an email to get it. To the complete surprise of everyone, and I mean everyone, my boss emailed back out of nowhere to say I was wrong (literally, in front of a bunch of people), and that the policy we had been following for the longest time was not the actual policy. Then she sent an email around saying that in situations like I had just encountered, we needed to do what she had just told me I was wrong for doing. Then she sent an email around saying that we should do things differently. I think the functional upshot of this all was to make me wrong no matter what I said or did.
A little while later I saved us from redoing about a hundred and fifty pages of tedious work, and was chastised for taking the initiative.
Yay life.
I'm almost completely burned out on WoW, with struggling to beat the Lich King (futilely) and guild drama. I've been offline almost entirely the past weekend, with my shiny new PS3 to occupy me. It feels good to be console gaming again.
Transformers: War for Cybertron is a damn fun game. I don't even like shooters that much -- present gaming history being an odd exception -- but I'm enjoying the hell out of TWfC. And I don't know *why*, except it's reasonably simple mechanics-wise and reasonably well-polished. I suck at it in multiplayer, but I try not to let that bother me.
Also on the list: Final Fantasy XIII. Having played it, I can see why people complain about the battle system, but I also think these complaints are "change is bad!" Now, the total lack of freedom in the first... how far am I in, ten chapters and still going? Is a bit frustrating and a more legitimate complaint, but nothing I'm not willing to forgive.
No game reports due to no games, a streak that will hopefully be broken this Sunday.
