I'm really not good at updating here anymore. Especially now that I have a
Flickr account. I'm doing Project 365, and keeping up with it really well so far (knock on wood). Except for the dates that I missed before I started, I haven't missed a day yet (though some of them have been posted late). So, really, if you want to know what I'm up to, that's the place to look.
We've been keeping busy. Nate's growing like crazy, and is soooo ready to walk. He's taking a few steps here and there, especially if he's angry and there is mama milk or Cheerios involved. Dave's coaching him, while I'm perfectly content to let him take his time; after all, Dave will not be the one chasing him around all day once he's fully mobile! He's talking a lot, about ducks ("gucks!") and how they quack ("kack!"), his doggie and how it woofs "oofoofoof!", the fish ("shish!"), and Elijah ("Jhaijah!"). He also says, "Ni ni!" at bedtime, and has started blowing us kisses. He has also refined his kissing technique, from the previous slobbery-open-mouth-squished-to-mama's-face style to puckered up little pecks, with a "Buh!" sound. Every once in awhile, when he's playing, he totters up to me and gives me a kiss. This, of course, melts me into a squishy little puddle of mommy goo.
We've been spending a lot of time out and about with Elijah and Becki, wandering around the malls, and, when it's warm enough, the parks. All this walking has made me shrink! Just this evening, I bought the smallest size pair of jeans I've owned in... wait for it... at least eleven years. I am super excited about this.
I'm the leader of our local babywearing group now, which is kind of cool. Not a huge deal, but I'm excited about it. It justifies some of my carrier habit, and that's always good. Nate still loves being worn, and is always happiest when he's snuggled up to me in a carrier. I love the feeling of having a happy little person right up close where I can tickle him, kiss him, or make faces at him, and I love how sweet it feels to have my baby snuggled up on my back, sound asleep and totally content.
Austin's doing well. He's been having a rough patch at school (when isn't he?), though I think we're seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Is that light just the end of the school year in June? Could be, could be.
Dave quit smoking three weeks ago tomorrow, using Chantix!! I'm so proud of him. He's tried to quit on several occasions before, and it just hasn't worked for him, but he's doing so well now.
So, now I'm going to post a few photos here, and then I probably won't update for ages again. At least I'm honest, right? ;)
