Happy Independence Day!

Summer isn't going so great thusfar.  Austin started out with a cold the week before last, which he then passed to me, which I seem to have given to Nate, and now Dave's feeling it.  Nate's still got the stuffy nose and cough going on, but seems to be getting over it well.  I'm pleased to say that this is really the first actual sickness that he's had, and I credit that entirely to magic mama milk.

We've started Nate with solid foods, and are doing "baby led solids."  This basically means no purees, no jarred baby food.  We give him chunks of what we're eating, and trust that he will eat what he wants to and is able to, and what doesn't work, he'll dribble back out.  So far, he's had bananas, butternut squash, avocado, and watermelon.  Today I think he's going to have some carrots and asparagus.

He's not-so-slowly but surely joining the ranks of the mobile, as he scoots around the floor faster every day.  He's doing a funny inchworm crawl sort of thing- first he scoots his knees up to his elbows, then scoots his elbows ahead.  He gets very frustrated when he doesn't move as quickly as he'd like.

Dave's having a super-stressful time at work lately, punctuated by a 24-hour-workday last Thursday.  We're leaving on Saturday for the lake, and never before have I looked forward to a vacation so thoroughly.

Rather frustrated by his slow progress

I LOVE this face!!

Blowing a raspberry as he's hard at work
