Part 4 - The Pursuit
“Where are we now?” asked Kyi.
The group had left PotD in a hurry, and had entered a gate. When someone entered a gate, they could do two things; head to the lobby of GameFAQs, where they could log off, or head to another board.) It is the only way to travel around GameFAQs. It was built as a way to prevent user harassment; it is impossible to follow someone to another board without first knowing where they are going.
“Kyi, this is the board I claimed for myself. Welcome to The Hotel,” said Seto.
Standing before them was a very hall building, about twenty stories. It had huge glass doors leading into a grand lobby. There were a few people sitting around, reading papers and talking. They stood up once Seto entered.
“Seto, did you hear what happened on PotD?”
“There seems to be some sort of attack”
“Dark Lazer was sentenced to bannation. He hasn’t been around in forever...”
“Calm down guys. Donnie, Wolf, GXion, were you guys there? Did you see who they were?” asked Seto.
“No, not a thing…”
“Listen, lets head to my room,” suggested Yugi, “We have a lot to talk about it…”
Meanwhile…
“That bastard,” snarled superdood, clutching his chest, “This wound probably won’t heal till the next karma update.”
“Your lucky you are alive,” said blight, “Math Murder could have killed you at any point. Anyways, if he succeeded, then your wound is just a minor sacrifice.”
“He didn’t succeed,” said a third voice.
In walked a man wearing a skin-tight outfit and a long, grey cape. A cigarette laid in his mouth, and he wore a pair of sunglasses.
“He didn’t get it. Someone else beat him there,” he said.
“Are you sure ectopants?” asked Wise.
“Yes. But no worries, even with the absence of Dark Lazer, we can still achieve our goals. He has given the orders to find the one who took it. He name is Kyi…”
Back at the Hotel…
Everyone was settling into Yugi’s room. Donnie, GXion, and Kyi took up the couch, while Devil Wolf and Yugi sat at the nearby table. Seto stood, directing miniature birds of flame with her hands.
“Seto, do you want to start?” asked Yugi.
She nodded, and then turned to them.
“To be honest, I have no idea why those men were attacking people. But the reason I brought all of you together is because of what they called themselves. They said that they were the ‘Cynical Zealots’,” spoke Seto.
Donnie and GXion jumped to their feet. Devil Wolf’s mouth dropped open.
“You must have heard them wrong,” said GXion.
“I am afraid we didn’t,” said Yugi.
“What are you guys talking about?” asked Kyi.

Seto sighed, “Back when this site was texted-based, there was a user by the name of ParanoidObsessive, PO for short. He was a smart user who use to debate others to no end. As far as we know, he never made the transition to the 3-D GameFAQs, due to his stubbornness to upgrade from dialup. But one of his alternate accounts was ‘Cynical Zealot’.”
“Seto, do you think PO is behind this?” asked Devil Wolf.
“I don’t know. As far as we know, he left GameFAQs X years when the text-based site went offline. But I caught some of the names of the attackers. It was people like superdood, MadDawg, and Dark Lazer. Ex-PotDers. Perhaps they just named their little group after PO. Why…I don’t know,” said Seto.
“What are we going to do?” asked Kyi.
“Nothing,” said Yugi, “This is a job for the moderators. No reason to get involved.”
“But…can you trust the moderators?” asked another voice.
Everyone turned to see a man standing by the door. He wore leather armor and held a wooden staff. He wore a cape made up of yellow feathers.
“Its been a while,” said Seto, “How fairs Board 8, Mr. Ambassador?”
“Relations between Board 8 and PotD are going well. We are hoping for another inter-board lottery soon,” said the man.
“Who is this guy?” asked Kyi.
“This is Heroic Demyx, the Ambassador to Board 8, and the Chocoboslayer,” said Donnie.
“There is something you need to know Seto. But before I tell you, you must understand that I wasn’t here. No one must know that we talked. It could jeopardize my position,” said Choco.
“Yes, whatever. What is it?” asked Seto.
“Your friend Kyi here is currently wanted by the moderators for Illegal Activites.”
