Where is our Utopia?

I dont think its such a good idea to break apart the story. When people become aware of the natural strings in narrative, they believe that they are being maipulated. Their hero's fall. Who can imagine a better world? What has become of us that we cannot imagine, let alone communicate this vision to others. Just because there is a formula, a framework to myth, hero, story or song dosent mean that it is false. If you rip apart the very was in which we communicae with each other, then you must replace it with something else, something better. If not, chaos, cynisism...I'm not against being a cynic. Its just when you remove the organic story that grows in a culture, then who has the power to replace it, with what and who is now the hero? It is not that now as a modern enlightened society we do not need that hero, hello luke skywalker, its that sometimes I think we pretend that we dont, or more dangerously we in fact push them away, feel foolish for believing in them and let them die. When I was a child, I did not have a hero. I couldnt really say that I do now, in fact the only ones that I have are the folk heros of 9/11. What are yours?
Where is our Utopia?
Science Fiction-Fantasy? Religious dogma? Are they both heralds and doomsayers?

The authenticism of something is linked to its credibility. People dont like to accept that something has power and respect just because it is a story. look at the Bible. When I see someone start to believe that it is just a bunch of parables written by rabbis and priests, history and legend...then sooner or later they reject the whole lot. I say, so what if it is? Same with film and television, people are so jaded that if something isnt totally believable, if they dont totally forget themselves then it wasnt very good. Reality television attemts to fill this void with its ruse of authentic entertainment, like throwing people to the lions. Yet, no heros emerge. Why? Our society is trying to unconciously fix something that may be irreperable.
