answer of life
there was a news about a korean singer hanged herself in the newspaper yesterday. she is believed to have been suffering from depression. on her website earlier, she said she felt everything is empty and she was walking down a path to reach a destination that she didn't know. it saddened me and i was thinking how many of us have felt, or feel similarly as her.
when we set our eyes on the destination we lose our sight of hope. if you have a fixed goal to aim for, you may either reach it or fail. there's no hope. hope is there when you don't know what's awaiting in front of your path yet you believe or are confident that it would be good.
i understand her feeling that everything in life seems empty. i felt so when i saw life itself was empty, fruitless, meaningless. nothing under the sun is new. wisdom is futile, pleasure is futile, work is futile, wealth is futile. so where do we place our hope in life. tell me there's a purpose in life, shouted my mind while searching for an answer. if you think life has no purpose, your presence is by a probability and without a purpose, life is indeed futile. thus so many sorrow empty lonely souls wandering, fading away in this world.
today's papers contained a report on flood victims receiving goods donated by various parties. i was moved to read that a woman cried after receiving the gift. her husband died of heart attack recently. the woman expressed her gratefulness to people helping flood victims.
the meaning of life is always found in difficult times.
