Ah, here we are again. I perennially come to post the same thing, "hello LJ, it's been too long, I should post more. What have you been up to? Oh, just the same I see..." but here I am making the same post, though with more time behind me.
This year has already been far too much. I moved across the country, saw my career start moving, my parents are selling their house, my sister got married, I finally had my honeymoon with Becca, and then the world was crushed under a global pandemic.
The land that we live on dies and burns yearly, but I have hope that when it burns this time perhaps it will burn this year with it, and we'll start something better.
*addendum: An odd thing struck me as I finished writing, I went back through some old posts and weirdly certain smells associated with people came back vividly. A very specific smell of a person rolled over me, someone who I haven't thought about in years. It isn't a bad smell just exceptionally distinctive, it smells like 跌打酒, musk, and cotton.
Memory is odd.
