Got over to the West Side Market so I could buy vegetables today. We also stopped into the Glass Bubble Project in the far corner of the market parking lot; it's a tiny little building where they make glass and if you are lucky you can observe them making beautiful things. Ivy could stay and watch them blowing glass for a while, but Miranda gets impatient and loses interest quickly so we only stayed a bit.
I was straying from my resolution to cook at least one meatless meal a week, so today I made basmati rice and red lentils patties, spinach and garbanzo bean soup. It wasn't very good. The patties fell apart in the pan and soaked up too much oil--I don't think I had it hot enough. I don't really like frying stuff, I am so scared it's going to catch fire. And the soup was kind of bland. But I think the basic meal plan was good, so I'd like to try it again sometime and work out some of the problems.
I'm tired and crampy tonight. I should finish up the pants for Ivy and Miranda, but Ivy's watching Lion King 1 1/2 in my sewing room and the noise of the sewing machine will probably be annoying. I'm not that keen on working on them anyway. Maybe I will put some stuff up on Etsy. I finished a little pair of shoes yesterday.
