Was it a local production or a touring show? If you are interested in working on a production, this makes a big difference as a local production pulls local folks & a touring production usually starts in New York & a New York stage manager (SM) tours with the production & utilizes local Union (IATSE) crew at various venues, as the SM & actors on a tour are usually all Equity. To become the SM, this requires sacrifice, study & a frickin' BOATLOAD of training! I've been stage managing since my sophomore year of high school, through 4 years of undergrad, and I'm now in my 2nd year of grad school and I still don't feel prepared to call/run a massive technically complicated production like that. SMs are in demand, because there are so few good ones out there and quality training is hard to come by

I am starting locally with stage hand work and doing some networking. I don't know 'how' serious I am about being an SM- but want to get back into theater none the less.
The advice rocks and I will definitely take it all into consideration.
I want to have a creativity-driven career, and I want to travel. If I can get both...thats a dream come true. So SM came to mind.

I'll keep ya posted on my theatrical goings-ons!! Be it props, acting or set! Its all great to me. For all I know-it could just become a wonderful hobby which Im ecstatic to have found time for again.
