Meh. Christmas was boring. I went with my family to my Uncle Victor & Aunt Cathy's house for the annual Martinez family congregation. It was alright. I got a surprisingly good gift from my cousin Marque; a really cool resin dragon sculpture that lights up and has a detachable sword (which is actually just an oversized letter opener). She mentioned the gift was incomplete, that she was also going to get me a sketchbook and an art kit. I'm kind of glad she didn't... I mean, I love the sentiment, but I had enough sketchbooks as is, and I'm pretty good on art supplies right now. I got... well, two pairs of clothing from my immediate family and $50. Said money went into the purchase of a 4GB iPod Nano from the Apple Store (meaning it comes engraved. Yay!)
New Year's was a lot more interesting. I journeyed down to Albuquerque so I could spend it with my love,
eaglem16. Meep! I chose an interesting day to do so. Remember that uber-snowstorm that lasted almost 3 days? I went traveling on the advent of it. As I left Santa Fe, there was a severe slowdown of traffic, followed by a complete whiteout of snow. I mean... at some point, I lost the power to distinguish the road from the landscape. Later on, I could just barely see the lights of the vehicle ahead of me. I say vehicle because I honestly don't know if it was a car, truck, SUV... anything! It was like a raging inferno of snow. I was afraid like I've never been, and the only thing I've ever enjoyed about winter had become my nemesis. This alone stood between me, and the soft, warm, cuddliness that is my Cheetah!
...incredibly, the snow literally deadened as I entered Bernallio. It went from a wall of white to clear as night. The roads were pristine. I wondered whether to stop and rest at my Aunt Senaida's house (and run the risk of being trapped there by the approaching maelstrom), or press on to Rio Rancho (gambling that I could outrun the blizzard and not get lost. If it caught me, I would be eaten by the labyrinthine corridors of the place).
...I made it! I made it to my Kitty's house! I made it just as the storm found me! Hehehehahahaha! I pounced my love, happy to be alive, happy to be alive with him, happy that I had taken a chance and all was well!!
I'm so glad I did. I had so much fun with the Cheetah. While we were snowed in, I got to hang out with his family. We played a bunch of board games to pass the time. Call me childish, but I love any kind of games! We tried FedEx Monopoly (of which I ate the souls of all involved), Masterpiece (a rare, but surprisingly fun art game), Apples to Apples, and even Checkers. Heheh, I think Eagle defeated his mother, who is a checkers mastermind, for the first time ever. He then went on to face a Bunny who hasn't played the game in forever, and preferrs Chess anyways. In a surprise upset, our floppy-eared hero was victorious!! And oh, how my love hounded me for a rematch the whole time that I got to stay with him! (don't worry, he eventually got his revenge. ^^;) Later on we met Rexar, a nocturnal dragon fur who kind of surprised me. He was really far conservative, but intellectually so. I thought that was an oxymoron, but he proved me wrong. He's also a really cool artist.
On the actual days of New Years, I counted down to 2007 from the warm, euphoric arms of my Kitty. I can think of no place I would rather be, come the New Year. The next day, much of his family invaded the house, and we played a round of Super Scrabble. I... kinda dislike Scrabble. Dunno why. We lost so badly... Mrh. Oooh, and his family is interesting. While I was there, they subjected me to such a wide variety of new foods. I really loved this hungarian dessert roll. They also have an interesting tradition called the Grab Bag. It's just that; a box with all kinds of trinkets and gifts that people just reach in and snatch out. Heh, Cheetah's family is so cool... well, except for the munchkins. They are all demons! I still want cubs, thought!!! ^_^
Mrrh... now I'm back in Chimayo. It's boring!! I've nearly finished Salamandastron. Jeremy dropped by to hang out a few times. Heh, he's no match for me in Smash Bros anymore. I've been stealing wireless internet from my moms work this whole week. That wireless card I bought is one of the best investments I've ever made. Oooh, and I got an email from
thegreenarcher, who asked me to draw a poster for the Frozen Oasis. It's sort of a furmeet party event. I'm kind of honored, I just need to get it done. :P
Aaanyways, I'll be heading back home on Tuesday. The Cheetah is once again playing the kind innkeeper and putting me up for a few days. I'll be happy to just get back to him!! Heheh, classes will start for him soon, so he must be sort of busy. I'm really glad the Winter Solstice already passed; the days can only get longer. It's interesting, we've been having blizzards here in the Southwest, but New York has been bone dry all winter. WTF!? *waits for Sabot's explanation*
Oh, and I recently discovered that the last few channels on Dish Network pick up Sirius, that satellite radio thingie. I must say, I am thoroughly impressed!
