Teal Deer 001: Prickly Demon Prince
Aaaaaaaaaargh this kid is such a ball of issues, it's a little fun to pick him apart. Maybe I'm just reading too much into his personality but I can't help it.
So from the get go, we see Laharl as a stereotypical evil demon. He lies, cheats, steals, hates love and doesn't give a fuck about anyone but deeper into his story, we find out why. When he was young, he suffered from a fatal illness. His mother gave up her life to cure him. Clearly, this moment scarred him for life. Ever since that day, he started to hate love.
Headcanon says this is why he keeps everyone at a distance. He says it's because he's a demon and he's supposed to be like that but is that really the case? Could he just be pushing everyone away because he's scared that someone he loves is gonna leave? Is he just scared of getting hurt again?
And after this is all headcanon.
See, I feel Laharl needs someone to respect before he could actually love them. But even then he'd be damned if he'd admit. The only time he would is probably to keep them from leaving. Poor kid's abandonment issues are worse than mine. Actually, no. He probably has trust issues up the wazoo. Which is why I burst out laughing like an idiot when I heard Trust Me after reading that tag. This sketch isn't enough. I want to make an entire AMV to it.
