Kazutaka Muraki was born to the Muraki family of a long line of doctors. Growing up, his mother was rather fond of him and treated him like a doll: dressing him up and caring for him as if he was one. Sometime during his childhood, his half-brother Saki came to live with them. However, Kazutaka's mother died and though it isn't quite explained why or how, it is speculated that Saki killed her. Whatever the circumstances, Saki was shot by a family attendant which killed him on the spot. Obsessed with thoughts of revenge, Kazutaka began to devise a twisted scheme: to revive Saki only to be able to kill him himself.
His school years passed quietly enough; he went to medical school, graduated top of his class and became a respected doctor; keeping close ties with his mentor Professor Saotomi, a college friend Oriya Mibu and his fiancée Ukyou.
Of course, this respectable practice is a front for the doctor’s other hobby: moonlight serial murders. He prefers his kills under the light of the red full moon, drawn to the sight of blood. His murders are thought out and planned; targets usually being the young and attractive. Of course, there is a method to his madness: kill enough people and you disrupt souls, calling the attention of the JyuOhCho and eventually draw out an individual named Asato Tsuzuki.
The doctor had learned of Tsuzuki while reading his grandfather’s files which detailed a young man who lived despite not eating or sleeping for several days. The wounds he received seemed to heal almost instantly. At this, Muraki knew he had found the perfect target. Tsuzuki would provide the body he would use to revive Saki whose head he kept in a tank under his old alma mater in a secret basement. Using methods not very clearly explained by canon, Muraki enters Meifu and kidnaps Tsuzuki, disappearing in a flurry of white feathers. The doctor proceeds to continue his experiments on Tsuzuki but thanks to a last minute intervention, Hisoka and the others manage to stop him before things can get a little too out of hand. However, Tsuzuki had stabbed the doctor beforehand and proceeded to summon Touda. The shikigami's fire went out of control and set the entire lab on fire. The shinigami managed to get out fine but as for the doctor, that's the last that's seen of him so far.
[ Personality ] :
Kazutaka Muraki is probably the paragon of a man of two faces. On the surface, he seems to be a charming man; beautiful and reserved, cultured, ever the perfect gentleman. In the hospital, he is seen as a doctor whose bedside manner and smashing good looks have gained him many fans in the nursing station as well as allow patients to trust him completely. Of course, this is all but a façade for underneath this near angelic appearance is the heart of a demon. His true nature is of a cold and calculating puppetmaster who is willing to go through whatever means necessary to achieve his goals. Muraki has no regard for others and sees them as chess pieces: pawns he can manipulate and discard when they’ve served their purpose.
One could possibly describe him as obsessive. After all, his obsessions are what drive him. Though these come off as rather twisted and cruel he won’t hesitate to kill for them which in fact he has. Repeatedly and without remorse. His greatest obsession, his strongest drive is for revenge. This is the sort of revenge that had run so deep, practically all logic and reason has been thrown out the window. This would be against his brother. His already dead brother. His dead brother who supposedly killed his parents but in turn was killed by a household servant. Kazutaka’s greatest obsession is to revive his dead brother so he can kill him himself as an act of revenge. So determined is this madman that he’s kept his brother’s head in a tube under his old school. At times, he heads down to his secret lair and talks to the head. Remember what I said about logic and reason being thrown out the window?
Of course, to fulfill this, one needs a cure for decapitation. This came in the form of one such Asato Tsuzuki. One can say, the day Muraki rifled through his grandfather’s notes was the day a second obsession was born. The way the doctor pursues the poor hapless shinigami has the same tenacious dedication he has. Tsuzuki, after all, is the key to his plans. With his ever-regenerating body, he would finally have the means to extract revenge over and over again.
Clearly, there is nothing this man isn’t willing to do for this was where his blood trail started. He can get away with murder, having been able to cover his tracks flawlessly. He kills mercilessly, his favourite target seemingly being young females. The doctor isn’t the least bit shy about shedding blood, being rather violent with his stabs and slashes. One can say he hypes the theatrics in his kills in order to instill more fear into the eyes of his dying victims.
But behind the evil peers the eyes of a different Kazutaka, a Kazutaka who is undeniably human. He exists, certainly, despite the fact that there are only a precious few who have seen this side of him. This is the Kazutaka who Ukyou has nothing but praise for. The Kazutaka who laments the monster he has become. Perhaps there is a chance for redemption yet, if it wasn’t for the fact that he seems near accepting of his fate, his darkness.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
-Accomplished physician. Knowledgeable in many fields of medicine, specifically cardio-pulmonary.
-Also knowledgeable in the occult. Could possibly be a necromancer.
-Can summon a giant three headed dragon, Ryu-ou.
-Is capable of casting various spells, not limited to memory manipulation spells, sealing spells, summoning, mind reading, mental manipulation and curses.
-Seems to be a bit of an energy vampire and necromancer
-Is deceptively charismatic
-Main weakness: Tsuzuki
