The only one I've seen worth reposting. I remember 9/11/2001. I remember listening to WBBM on the way into work, and hearing about a small commuter plane that had crashed into the WTC. I came in and told some folks to turn on their radios because I wanted to hear the followup. "Hey guys, a plane just flew into the World Trade Center." I got some skeptical looks, but someone turned on a radio, and we listened. We found out about the second plane. We found out it was NOT a small commuter, but an international airliner. Things got quiet.
We eventually adjourned to watch the TV in the office. Smoke billowed up from the towers. Speculation was rampant, flights were grounded, noone knew what was really going on, but not much work was done. On my break I called home. It was 10am. I was on the deck at work, looking at the back fence of OHare Airport. The sky was clear and blue, and there wasn't a single jet in the sky. It was the weirdest feeling I had, an end-of-the-world feeling that no movie had ever really properly captured before for me. That sky is what I remember the most about 9/11. There was speculation about whether the airport or malls would be targetted (we were sent home early), there were prayer vigils afterward... but I'll never forget how strange that sky was.
