OK. I got snow. That has fulfilled my need for seeing actual winter weather--although I might be more appreciative if it coated things a little more thoroughly and hadn't already mostly melted already.
Last night, I noticed some flickering lights outside, and when I peeked out the front door, there was a police patrol car and an ambulance parked at the top of our driveway. I went out to them to see what was going on. The police officer wasn't in his car, so I asked the ambulance crew whether they were looking for our neighbors' house. Nope. The "other" ambulance was already at the Malvoisins' place. They were there in case the first ambulance got stuck. A few minutes later, they were backing down the driveway and the easement..in the snow and not-yet ice.
We checked the 911 site and saw two reports of a suspicious person (probably the same jerk that keeps throwing his cigarette butts out at the top of our driveway) and a cardiac arrest at the time we saw the EMTs and police.
My sweetie's job is closed for the day, and I am attempting to telecommute. If it snows, I should get the day off, too, right? Curse of the Internet....
No Snow Fu
We took Ignatius and Ælfgifu on the porch this morning to see if they wanted to experience snow. Apparently not. Ignatius refused to let go of the Momma. Ælfgifu allowed herself to be put on the porch, but hissed, sniffed a little and immediately retreated inside. She did not appreciate having cold paws! She hissed at me a couple times, but is now curled up against my leg, radiating heat and purring away.
Errr. Happy Anniversary?
Corporate anniversary gifts have improved vastly from when I first started. Initially, it was a bunch of stuff you could get for free as give-aways when the company reps were at shows and conventions. Over the last few years, it has gotten markedly better. But just because it is free doesn't mean it is good. This anniversary, I chose a nice pendulum wall clock. It fits our decor and living room theme. It is supposedly a high-end clock, but the chime is electronic...and quite frankly sounds terrible, Oh well, I can be satisfied with a pretty and quiet clock (even if I prefer true clockworks over quartz movements).
