ealdthryth and I decided that it is time to retire the entertainment center and the large television set. We haven't used it in three years (since we swapped the library and the living room furniture around). We were both reluctant to do this because it is a nice piece of Mission/Arts & Crafts-style furniture and it was the centerpiece around which were going to update our furnishings. Other than the "Christmas Village" display on top of it and the television set itself, the thing has pretty much empty for a while.
However, once we both agreed it was the right decision, we moved the remaining clutter from the cabinets (curios that the cats knocked down from other places) and I spent a good hour trying to retrieve the storage boxes for the village and put things away. It felt rather productive although a little sad.
I think this activity re-invigorated
ealdthryth's desire to declutter and start the reflooring project. Personally, I'd like to get the remaining portion of the yard dealt with before trying to actually start another project. Too much upheaval at one time, and
ealdthryth is NOT going to like me.... Perhaps the code should be "Stop: Too Much Change At One Time". I don't inherently disagree with the change itself, but I need closure on other changes first.
I Am NOT A Cullen
Putting away the Christmas Village pieces last night resulted in an excess of glittery dust from the "snow" that got stirred up. After putting everything away, I noticed that my arms were coated in the stuff and grumpily announced that I was NOT a vampire.
Clippy Fu
While I was trying play Tetris with the repacking of the village display,
ealdthryth took the opportunity to clip the cats' claws. I heard a lot of whinging from the next room, and eventually, was told to "catch AElf'" if I saw her. Yeah. Right. AElfgifu knew that the other cats had been caught and unmercifully groomed, so she did NOT cooperate with being reached out to. By the time I finished the packing job,
ealdthryth managed to corral AElfgifu and trim up those claws--which I am grateful for....
At some point in the evening,
ealdthryth accidentally startled AElfgifu, and our oldest tortie hissed at the Momma. Then she immediately sat down, looked up, and meowed contritely for being rude. Cute!
Normality Returning
The green appears to be gone from the slime, but the slime is still around. I am cautiously optimistic that the infection has nearly run its course. Midweek, I am no longer as lightweight as I was at the "official weekly weigh in", but I am still comfortably in the category of "not overweight"--even if only just so. If I am up to lawnmowing today, I'm sure I can resume the downward trend. Surely some of the decluttering had an effect.
