The Value of Punctuation

Jun 09, 2009 08:47

In case anyone wanted to know the value of punctuation, I glanced at one of the morning headlines. Police Car Was a Rolling Meth Lab has a much different meaning than Police: Car Was A Rolling Meth Lab.

You also have to love a newspaper that can seriously refer to a bear "moseying" around town.

Just sayin'.

Mowing Musings

When I got home last night, it was a little too warm to start up the mower and take a tour of the yard, but the back and side yards did get mowed before dark. In the week since I last mowed, the ant mounds have doubled in size, and the ones closest to the driveway are full of aggressive and fast little buggers. A couple of them made it up on to my calf and started chomping in retaliation for me running over their home with the mower.

Normally, the ants simply disperse and make smaller new mounds. I have the sinking feeling that they are getting organized or that all those mounds are actually one contiguous colony. Time to invest in pennyroyal and maybe some borax.

Pillow Fu

Ignatius knows when it is "bedtime". When both ealdthryth and I head for the bed room, Igantius dashes in and hops on the bed. Last night, he flopped over onto ealdthryth's side of the bed. When she came over and started petting him, Ignatius started mushing his face into the pillow.

MMMmmm! Pillow! My favorite!

Silly boy!

A little later, Ignatius settled down onto the corner of the bed and started grooming. AElf' decided to "help", but at some point, she decided she'd rather bite Ignatius instead, and they both rolled off the end with a big FWHUMP!

Josie hopped off of my ankles (where she had settled) and lay down where the other two cats had fallen off of the bed, and she peered down to see what was going on. For some reason, this reminded me of a Muppet.

Carpool, Strike Two

I waited until quarter 'til again. My co-carpooler was a no-show. Yesterday, he slept through his alarm and forgot in his rush to get to work. I expect the same thing happened today. Sigh

EDIT: Nope. He decided at the last minute that he was going to telecommute today.
