Class review and some ruffled feathers

Art 108:  "Foundations of Contemporary Art"
I really enjoyed the class, and the professor was awesome. He was very fun to listen to in lecture, even though some of the explanations for the paintings made me raise my eyebrows skeptically, haha. Ended up with an AB, which isn't a bad thing, but it surprised me. I must have done poorly on my paper, since I did really well on all of the tests.

Music Theory: aka "Musica Practica 3"
This one semester was much more interesting than the previous two semesters - we actually used what we knew to talk about how the different chords created the mood of the piece, and how motives became characters in their own right. Very cool. The professor was very good humored, and it almost makes me want to take the fourth semester (which is only required for music ed and BM degrees). Almost, but not quite.

Music Theory Aural Skills
Eh. I'm not great at solfege singing (and wasn't concerned enough to sit down and memorize all of our sightsiging examples), so I pulled an AB in this class. Our TA was really funny though, and she liked our class.

Music History I: "Survey of Western Music - Ancient to Baroque"
The professor was a bit of a chore to listen to - since he always read the entire text of whatever song we were looking at in his fake Italian/French/German/Latin. Especially the Italian... he thought he was really good at that and would make a huge project out of pronouncing it. Since my art 108 professor had really good pronunciation of the different languages - I could hear how bad my history professor actually was. But that aside, it was a useful class, and I found that I really liked some of the music. The opera unit, however, was far too long.

Chamber Orchestra
It was a different experience, playing with a small group so that the harp could actually be heard! There was a lot of interesting music, and my favorite was definitely the Debussy "Boite a Joujoux" (or whatever the French is) because it had so much character. :) :) Unfortunately, I didn't get a recording of it, and the bastards in the music office don't make copies of cds longer than 1 week after the concert. So I'm sad, and I have to find some other recording of that song.

Harp Lessons
Karen is awesome, as usual. We got to work with Yolanda Kondonassis, which is awesome, and this next semester will be preparation for my proficiency exam - which will determine if I get to advance as a music major. O_O'

Drawing II
I liked my TA - and there were a bunch of interesting projects... which I have yet to take pictures of.
