Geneva on the Lake 2012

We finally got our rainy day on Thursday. It rained off and on, a steady drizzle pretty much all day. We didn't mind, because it provided a day of laziness and recovery from the heat and business of the week so far. Everyone decided they were going to visit a local winery, but I stayed behind to keep an eye on the sleeping boy. Also, I'm not a huge fan of wine.

It started raining as they left, so I sat on the porch while Liam slept and worked on some crosswords. I saw the van carrying everyone stop at Eddies, the eatery on the corner of our street. They sat there for quite some time before I finally saw Beth walk out with a hot dog and they took off. About ten minutes later, the van came trundling back...Aurora had not been feeling well (we think from swallowing lake water), and had gotten sick so they brought her and James back. They hung out at Beth & Marty's cottage while I stayed over at ours. When I got hungry I gave the baby monitor to James and got some Eddie's myself. I had their fish sandwich, and I got a chocolate malt from the adjoining Dairy Queen. It was a satisfyingly junky meal.

After they returned, Steve exclaming over a bottle of pear flavored wine he purchased that he promised tasted just like pears, we finally visited SportCenter, the arcade we frequent to get tickets that we use to buy prizes for people we know, and toys for the kids. Marty saves up his quarters all year just for this purpose! Before that, though, we left Liam with them while Steve and I went to Yankee's Country Bar real quick for their dollar drink happy hour. We sat underneath a large beach umbrella outside and sipped our drinks while cuddling on a picnic bench. Once we got to the arcade, I played some Skiball, one of my favorites, and Steve and I busted a move on the DDR machine. I am out of shape, and failed two of the three songs! It was very unlike me. I will have to get back into it, because it's great exercise, and fun to boot.

Jess & James decided Thursday would be their date night, and they went out together to the Sandy Chanty...their seafood is prepared by a master chef, a woman we've become friendly with over the years. She knows her seafood and makes several unusual and delicious dishes. Shortly after they left, Liam fell asleep so Steve and I went to have our own dinner at Sportsterz...their special on Thursday is $3 for a 10 inch cheese pizza, so together with a drink apiece, we spent only about $15 altogether with a tip. Not bad. The pizza was very good, if very greasy, and the live music group covering classic rock songs wasn't bad either.
