Goodbye, Cable, My Friend.

Gosh, it's been forever since I posted in this thing. Sometimes I forget that I should be using it more for myself because I don't keep a real journal, more for me than for keeping up with others. That's what facebook is for. Anyway, I will have stories about my wedding and honeymoon up shortly. I hope to have that done by the end of the week. I also need to do another backup of my archive. I worry sometimes what would happen if this site were to go down and I lost so many memories, so I try to back it up from time to time. Just reminders for me.

On to deal with the subject of this post! Got a knock on the door about 8:00 this morning...Steve and I were still in bed. Turns out it was the Cox cable guy doing an audit of the apartment complex. (Way back when we moved in and had a Cox guy come install our internet, the young man who came saw our hookah and thought we were part of the Noble Brotherhood of Mary Jane. He was so impressed by our blatant coolness that he gave us a splitter to use on our internet line, even installed it for us, and we have been enjoying free cable ever since, and not basic cable either.) He informed us that we have been enjoying cable without an account, shut it off, and when we inquired about prices, we learned that a mere 19 channels costs $20/mo and what we had been using is $50/mo!

I'm not going to invest $20 to watch the 2 of those 19 channels that we watch, let alone $50 to watch what little TV we do. What I am going to do is buy a digital converter box for the TV and we can watch the local stations we have, which is a lot of what we watched anyway. I am not really sad, mostly just pleased about the great run of free cable we had...cable that otherwise would have cost over $1000 by now! Maybe I'm weird for being just so darn excited about that.

In other news, margaritas are 2.99 at Applebee's right now. Steve and I plan to partake this evening.
