Who ever said I played fair?jakiaJune 7 2011, 13:42:47 UTC
Hawke wondered, briefly, if it was possible to die of a broken heart, because surely hers was breaking.
"How could you? How could you just--use me like that?" She asks, her fist gripping the knife tightly, as if she wasn't sure if she wanted to stab him, or--or--
I loved you once. She wants to say, but doesn't. Why would you hurt me like this?Anders doesn't look at her, staring straight ahead into the night sky, like his fate has already been sealed. "You can't always play fair, Hawke. I did what I had to

<3 I love Elthina and those words were PERFECT to put in her mouth. I now ship Elthia/Book cross-fandom. Their combined wits would just make them the BEST couple ever. (And I can imagine them on a farm somewhere offering vagabonds hot meals and criticisms of their lifestyle in classy ways LOL)
How to train a mabarikheradihrJune 7 2011, 14:29:03 UTC
"Sit. Sit. Sit you stupid dog!" A young Carver growled at the mabari puppy.
The puppy growled back and tried to bite the finger pointing at him. Hawke smothered a laugh from the doorway to their home.
"Sterys? Why are you not helping your brother with Haine?" Malcolm's voice appeared above her.
"Carver said he could train him."
Malcolm pushed her out of the doorway. "Go help your brother."
She sighed and whistled. The puppy trotted to her and sat at a gestured command. With a smug smile she said, "And that, dear brother, is how you train a mabari."
As he watched the ensuing scuffle, Malcolm knew that this was the start to a lifelong rivalry.

Sing me a song, Choir BoyerunamiryeneJune 7 2011, 15:08:55 UTC
Hawke smothers a grin as Sebastian's face reddens. Again. Isabela hasn't left him alone this entire trip.
"Just one song, Sebby." "Don't CALL me that." "Pleaaaaaase?" "No." "I'll be your best friend." "No, thank you." "I'll make Hawke kiss you." "I can do that myself, thank you very much." "Ooh, do it! I think she'd like it." "No!" "If you don't sing me a song, choir boy, I'm never going to leave you alone. I'll dog your steps. I'll wait outside the chantry. I'll make sure Varric puts you in our next novel. I'll-" "Fine!"
He clears his throat, and breaks into a rather jazzy rendition of "I Get a Kick Outta You", complete with a little softshoe dance move. He finishes, resumes his rather uptight stance, and folds his arms.
"Good enough?" "Choir boy, you just gave me fantasies for a week." "Uh-huh." "I bet you gave Hawke some, too." "Damn you, Isabela." "Oh, you love it and you know it."

I'd just as soon kiss a templartersaJune 7 2011, 16:05:24 UTC
They were doubled over panting when the spiders attacked.
Anders shrieked like a little girl, throwing a fireball into the midst of the pile with too many furry legs and too many beady black eyes and their nightmarish pincers and spit. He scurried to the back of the group, putting Hawke, Aveline, and Isabela between him and them, then called up a good old-fashioned firestorm to be sure while they beat a hasty retreat towards the beckoning sunlight.
“They’re not following,” Aveline said with a puzzled frown.
Behind them, they heard a growl and whirled. A dragon sat perched on a rocky outcropping, looking down at them and licking its chops.
“Oh shit,” Hawke said, glancing over her shoulder. “Maybe we could get back into the tunnel. The spiders aren’t so bad…”
Gripping his staff in his white-knuckled grip, Anders planted the tip on the ground. “I’d just as soon as kiss a templar.”
The dragon roared.

Please Don't Leave MeerunamiryeneJune 7 2011, 14:48:31 UTC
Isabela looks up as she withdraws her daggers from the two raiders behind her, and sees Hawke collapse.
"No!" she cries, rushing across the sand and falling to her knees. "Don't you dare, Hawke. Don't you dare."
Hawke opens one eye, both hands pressed against a gaping wound in her side. "Don't what?"
Isabela's expression wavers between anger, exasperation, and fear as she leans over to kiss Hawke's forehead. "Please don't leave me," she whispers.
Hawke smiles weakly. "It's okay," she mumbles. "We brought Anders this time. Besides, if I didn't let you be the one to leave, you'd kick my ass."
Isabela turns. "Anders, move your feathers! Hawke's down!" She turns back and grins. "You're right, I would. Now shut up; you can be sarcastic later, when you're not giving me gray hair."

They'd been down here for three days. The Rock Wraith was dead, and she could finally feel a vague kind of hope that they might make it out of this alive. One week, Varric had said. Only one week to the surface. Halfway there. If we're lucky, Varric said, her subconcious mocked. One week if we're lucky.
Her mood soured as she shifted her weight and settled against the rockface, trying to find a position to rest that didn't remind her exactly how hard and unforgiving everything was down here.
"Keep your distance, mage," Fenris spat. There was an indistinct growl in response, and any remaining goodwill she had been harboring dissipated at the crackle of lightning prickling against her skin.
"So help me," she ground out. She pretended she didn't notice Varric laying Bianca across his knees. And she certainly didn't see his finger move any closer to Bianca's trigger. "The two of you were more pleasant when we thought we wouldn't make it out of this Maker damned demon infested pit. You will refrain from killing each other until we make

Carver stopped after disembarking, tilting his head back to look up at the imposing walls of the Gallows, made more imposing lit by the red glow still emanating from the rubble of the Chantry. Noticing, Garrett paused in his progress to look back at him, and catching the look on his face, cocked his head to one side curiously. “What?”
“Just remembering the first time we stepped off here,” Carver replied. “Who would’ve thought, all these years later, we’d be where we are? You, Champion, me, a Grey Warden. And now this…”
Garrett nodded, taking a moment to look over the edifice himself, but then beckoned with a hand. “Come on, we have some innocent mages to save.”
A wry smile twisted Carver’s mouth. “Shove your innocents.”
Garrett grinned and walked over to clap Carver on the shoulder. “It’s good to have you by my side again, brother.”
“Of course it is,” Carver teased.
Together, the brothers Hawke rushed through the gates to incite a rebellion.

"No! That cannot be true!"
"What? You don't believe in love that is more important than life, Seeker? For Hawke the world without him was not worth living in."
"But... But everyone knows that Hawke led the mages' rebellion!"
"Sure, it was Hawke. Bethany Hawke. Should I get back to the start and recite you the younger sister's story instead?"
