So I had a long discussion with Mike last night. We were at "Wafflepalouza," a camping trip amongst my friends, involving as many people in the group that can come as possible. Fun times had by all (except for when there are squabbles... that's another story, though ( Read more... )

Growing up does mean not being able to do some of the things you were able to do when there was nothing to be responsible for. When you gain responsibility some thing has to go away - it's some kind of law of physics or something. Equal and opposite reactions?
Unfortunately, getting older and taking care of more responsibilities seems to make me being more tired. Being more tired takes away from your ability to be passionate about things. Age tends to bring about a curmudgenly attitude and resistance to change. You've seen attempts at change fail over and over and you get tired of attempting to change things so you quit trying. Not always, but that might be what you're seeing in us older people. We're tired and jaded. I know I am.

So you are tired and jaded. I can see that from having two kids and a job that has you getting up at 5 or 6 every day. The jaded part, I'm beginning to feel myself a little bit. Just look at my bit about online friends. Although I think I might've overreacted a bit there; not all of the people I talk to online have done that to me. I'm just frustrated with a handful of people, who happen to be the only people I've tried to come into contact with online, lately.

What makes me happy about you, however, is that you have not lost your creativity, which seems to plague a lot of other adults. You still find time for your music, reading, and messing around with electronic toys. You're a cool adult who has retained some of your childhood joys.
