Evil cannot take sick days.
I'm sitting here waiting for the kettle to boil so that I can have me some lemon tea (with honey of course).
Wednesday was wonderful, relaxing & sheer bliss made up of lots of hazelnut latte & helping to break in a friend's brand new spa. We planned big things, & a fair amount of evil, which was fantastic too - Poster is half finished. Unfortunately I woke up Thursday with the room spinning on two axis, a great big headache, & the loveliness of a fever.
I broke that fever last night though, I think around 11ish. Which is a nice friendly bonus. Today I can stand up straight without holding something for support & the headache is mostly minor. Mind you this is guessing. I can't find my fever strip thing to double check.
Can you say stressing much? I have the Zig Zag festival this weekend (list of events & some images here). I'm the
primary photographer this year (yay for promotions). I can't be sick. Not allowed. I've got a secondary brief tonight, & am collecting forms & maps & my parking pass. Saturday revolves around the festival & ensuring I have all my cards empty, lenses together, batteries charged, laptop with space & connecting leads or converters etc. I also need to map out where I will be & when & where the secondary photographer will be so that we can cover as much as possible. The festival is huge; the three stages ages away from each other & running all day.
Then Sunday is 9am - 10pm. Okay the festival is only 10.30am - 8.30pm but I'm also driving two of the volunteers there & home again afterwards. Technically I could say 8am start... it's the first day of daylight bloody savings. I need to find my watch & change it, change my phones & change my camera time too.
Then I have Monday & Tuesday to get the thousand or so shots processed, written to dvd & delivered to the festival organisers for newspapers & website use. Time? What time?!?
Monday is another Dr appt for my back in the morning, then Hydrotherapy (YAY finally) in the afternoon. There's a heap of outpatient appts next week actually. Physio, Specialist, Psych, & Pain Management & more Hydro. Massive week of busyness. All so that they can double check that I can go away in 2 weeks.
Meanwhile...
One of my labs have a really good special on at the moment. If I spend $100 in store on prints, I can pick up a nice pocket kodak digital for $29.
I don't have a pocket camera - I lent mine to dad for the interim when his died & he still has it & probably will for a long while yet. There are some things I really do not want to take my slr to. The other bonus is that this does 80 mins continuous video recording with sound (memory card reliant). Slrs can't video. Bonus bonus. There are days that you just want to be able to point & click & slip back in your pocket. Not stress about ISO, aperture or shutter speed. It apparently has a really nice macro setting too.
So if anyone has been thinking of getting any prints of my images, let me know?
There is the Gallery or you can look through DeviantArt or FlickR. Ask me if there is something you want that isn't up. There is a lot of various shots & series' that haven't been put back online since I moved server. (slack. yes. I know.) If I have something that fits your description I'll
put it up & if it's what you're looking for then great.
Aside from me admitting that I could really do with the extra sales thanks to the current state of the Australian Dollar, that's a really nice little pocket/purse camera. Plus, I happen to like Kodak - many of you already know that the photo on my business card was shot with a Kodak (the one I lent my father in fact). Also the same camera that has seen its shots published in newspapers repeatedly. [sigh] Dad... I miss my little kodak... can you replace your camera already?
So it's basically just a really good time [for me] to get your print orders in if you've been thinking of them.
I'm going to go in to the lab & ask for more information. Find out what they are & are not counting as 'prints' in their conditions. The email they sent me was pathetically lacking in information.
Unfortunately the book I've been working on is not yet finished.
It is also not through this lab.
Anyway. I need to get this poster finished for the Post Apocralypse night next weekend. 4 bands at one venue, then goth club, then afterparty....who said All Hallows was only allowed to be 1 night? Does it count if you don't get a chance to sleep?
