DragQueens are center part of the gaymale culture & they have been there since the beginning of it. They almost run the clubs and parties. Dragkings in the lesbian scene of Fl on the other hand are still fighting to be a part after the fact & in spite of how the lesbian scene is represented.

1st you have to understand that gaymale culture is rich & markets on gaymen being as gay as possible in the party scene. There just is more demand and money for drag queens cuz gaymen spend more to see drag & gay art expressed openly.

Dragkings have to deal with a party scene that rather hire a str8 gogo dancer to entertain lesbian/gay/queer women & even then is culturally reserved if not invisible when it comes to representing itself.

I used to seriously be a part of creating the dragking scene here in sofl when I was a core member of the dramakings which was the 1st and only dragking anything as far as the scene goes. It was hard to even get in the doors none the less make and keep profitable books. We settled for opening the doors to dragkings in sofl & grew from there to eventually having those back to back books that earned us some bankroll before the troupe brokeup, but even today with all the years that have followed there just isn't money in the scene that would compare to low level the earnings of dragqueens.

I was begged to do a return to the stage by one promoter here which was my friend soo ofcourse I took it, but it wasn't for the pay which all she even had to offer was alittle side money for a few numbers. Not bad being that I only did 2 numbers and partied with my friends getting hooked up. However the point was I did it becuz I wanted to open the doors back up in Miami where I never even get to go see a dk show unless it's rare & a 1 time deal. I told them if they wanted to work with me again they would have to commit to helping expand the scene with better pay for kings and such, which they did love me & I enjoyed my gig with them. Still unless I wanted to work the queen scene I know dragkinging would be more of an expense & alot more work on my part to recreate the scene here now then even before.

Now with that said I do thing however Drag Queens still hold up a standard most dragkings don't touch. I don't think you can compare costuming, creativity, and performance levels at all. I do believe it's on dragkings in general to set up bring more to the game.
