Equality in drag?

I don't know how things are around the US or in other countries, but in Florida drag kings and male impersonators are kept at the bottom of the pile.
My partner and I are trying to start fighting for equal treatment and equal pay for male impersonators.

Here in east central Florida, we get about half...if that, of the booking fee that our drag queen counterparts make. When money doesn't come in at the door, it seems we're expected to give up some of our pay first. I've seen queens blow off booking after booking, and still get bookings...I know of one drag king to blow off a booking, and he hasn't worked since.
We put as much effort into our show as the queens do, costumes, routines, advertising, and putting our hearts out there on stage. So, it makes me wonder why we seem to have less value amongst the drag world.

Is it similar in other parts around the country/world?
What can we do about this?
