Roxas scuffs his feet against the stone floors, listening to the students around him. He's ahead of Axel out of the classroom, the strap of his bag clenched tight between his hands.
It's been so silent between them for so long. Even when they hang out like they used to, something presses down, a knowledge of a past they both lived but won't acknowledge.
Roxas can't take it anymore. He's still got Axel's return note, scrawled in spidery cursive, crumpled tight in his hand as he waits for the redhead.
