[Upon the announcements of the inferi invasion, Hungary immediately sets out from dinner to head up to the Gryffindor common room. As an older student, she considers it her duty to help lead the pack, and take out as much of the enemy as she can. She's gotten quite good with battle-valuable magic, and the Incendio spell is one that she's become quite good with given the short period of time. The only way for anyone to go to reach safety is up, and she's going to kill as many of these things as she can to help clear the way.]

[While she's at it, though, she's especially keeping an eye out for Austria. She promised that she would protect him, after all. She's not about to break that promise at a time like this.]

[In fact Austria is not nearly as good with Incendio, or anything except defensive charms like the Protean charm which, in his fear of something so clearly unnatural and horrible, is rapidly flickering out of existence. Jaw set and face pale, he has his back to Hungary, surrounded by a few advancing creatures, and he is trying very very hard to protect himself, perhaps fling a spell but it keeps failing]

D-Don't worry, Austria. I can hold them off.

[She hopes so, anyway. She turns around and fires a few rounds of Incendio at the inferi that are advancing on them from behind. It's enough to destroy a fair amount of them, but not all of them, and she has to turn back around to take care of the ones advancing from in front of her.]

Do keep trying, though.

for the record, I suck at writing action scenes like this xD; forgive me fruchtig October 25 2011, 03:44:40 UTC
I am. [But it helps that Hungary is nearby, apparently; his defensive spells are wavering less and he tries to make his way over to her]

it's alright, I don't have much practice with them, myself pureheartedperv October 27 2011, 00:21:12 UTC
You're doing well!

[She can see that and will stop to praise him for a moment. Before casting a few more Incendio spells at some of the inferi that are approaching him, of course.]

you're certainly good though :3 fruchtig October 27 2011, 06:39:05 UTC
[The smell of charred flesh and the sight of bodies dropping is bringing back very, very unpleasant memories which Austria has to force back in order to concentrate on the magic, weaving together the effects of his spells like chords, layer after layer of protection. He's closer to her now, only a foot or so away, and still keeping the silvery shield in front of them both] I think-- I have this stable. If you fight them off I can attempt to get those who need help behind it.

a-awww thanks .////////. pureheartedperv October 28 2011, 14:04:53 UTC
[Hungary watches as Austria casts the various protection spells, smiling a bit at how effective of a shield it seems to be. She doesn't stop casting fire spells any time she spots one of the inferi, though, of course. It's conjuring similar unpleasant memories for her, as well, but, like any other war, she forces herself to not think about it and focus on what's important here; burning these corpses. Besides, this could be worse. These people are already dead, she reminds herself. She isn't actually killing anyone this time.]

Good. That will be very helpful. Anyone we find along the way is welcome to come with us. I will get you to your dormitory safely, though. No matter what.

[She closes the last bit of distance between them and places her free hand on his forearm, giving it a light, reassuring squeeze.]

We'll be okay. This is nothing compared with some of the things I've dealt with before.

[He nods, finding strength in the warmth of her hand, and gives her a small if wavering smile] It's manageable. I know. [And then, one momentary soft look before he has to shove the shield at another corpse] ...thank you. [But then one of them makes a noise and he stiffens and knocks it back, aiming his entire body into the spells]

So all we have to do is be strong. Just like always, right? This magic flavor to it all doesn't change that.

[She smiles back for a moment, before a corpse charges at her and she whirls around, casting a particularly powerful Incendio at it. It's strong enough to not only incinerate the inferi that it had been aimed at, but two others that were within range as well.]

[Austria is naturally impressed by that, and he manages to lash his shield outwards and trip one backwards into the line of fire] Exactly like always. No matter what we're fighting against- [even if they are horrible strange not-people with dead eyes and no souls]

Yes. If anything, this may be easier so long as the battles are all like this. These...things are already dead. Killing them again will leave no guilt on my conscience.

[She smiles at him when he manages that; fuck anyone who calls Austria useless, he's always been a skillful tactician and she's always admired that. She casts another round of fire spells in rapid succession, which clears a path to one of the stairways.]

Let's make a dash for it before more come and block us off.

Gladly. [With one last, disgusted look at the corpses he all but drags her in that direction, eyes still darting around to make sure nothing is going to sneak from the sides and attempt to bite them or... whatever these half-people want to do. Austria is not keen to find out, frankly]

Here we go then.

[Hungary has no desire to let these things get anywhere near close enough to either of them to find out, either. She's operating on a destroy on sight method and will continue to do so ruthlessly. She takes his hand, entwining her fingers with his and gives his hand a reassuring squeeze before leading the way up the stairs. Her pace is fast, but she's careful to not go too quickly for him and make him run out of energy from sprinting.]

[Austria appreciates it-- he's not the most in shape, recently or ever really. He's better at watching as they run, trying to devise some kind of plan that will get them out of this but at this point he knows so little of the enemy that barricading themselves until more efficient magic-users can finish the creatures off is the only viable option.

So he follows close behind, wordless in his concentration, and vows to get better at magic at least as long as he's stuck here]

[Hungary's mind isn't even on the future at all right now; the only thing she's even thinking about is safely ferrying Austria to the Ravenclaw common room without him getting hurt. The future will matter when it gets here, but right now nothing is more important than that goal. Once they're up the stairs, she grits her teeth; they're more or less surrounded.]

Stay close! Whatever you do, don't get too far from behind me, and don't get in the line of fire. Incendio!

[The spell is enough to destroy a few inferi at once, and from there she begins another barrage of spells.]

[Well, he's good at listening, anyway, and even if he can't use the Incendio spell properly perhaps there are a few he's learned in Defense Against the Dark Arts so far that might work.

He casts a quick, hard Reducto at an Inferi getting too close, blinking in surprise when it works, but then, it's threatening someone he cares about. He's not as fast, but the new spell manages to take out several on the other side at least, slowing them down]
