[Not that this new situation isn't dire, but Batman is not exactly looking forward to his classes. Though he's trained his share of proteges, he is most certainly not a people person. But it is something that has to be done, so he settles into an unused classroom and removes all the desks in favor of floormats and some equipment. There's plenty of space in the back of the room for all student belongings, since they won't be needing anything but themselves. He waits for the students to file in and speaks before any of them make their way to to floor.]
You will not be needing any supplies today. Leave everything you have against the wall and join me here. That includes wands and shoes.
[He waits for only a small window of time for the students to do so before continuing]
This class will teach you how to defend yourselves. Not from the dark arts, but from dark people. You are already learning defensive and counter spells, so we won’t be using magic in this class. Our focus will be on how you can still fight if you find yourselves without your magic. A wand is something you cannot always rely on. You must assume that any wizard you come up against in this war- and you, we, are at war- will be stronger, faster, and more experienced than any of you. It is likely that they could disarm you in a minute.
But this Voldemort’s followers are followers of tradition. Most will not know how to fight without a wand. And this is where you will have the advantage.
I only have three rules in my class, and you will follow them. Rule number one, you give me everything you've got. Rule number two, then you give me more. And rule number three... I make the rules.
[He stops and looks over the students, and it's clear this will be a no-nonsense course. In that, it is not so different from Professor Snape's class, after all.]
