Sigh.
I identified one of the major things working against the later chapters of Beneath a Beating Sun, and I can fix it, it's just that fixing it will require a massive reworking of cirumstances and eventual outcomes. Ironically, for a fic gthat started out trying to address a lot of the issues I had with canon, my problems right now stem from my reluctance to stray too far from canon--and that's making certain events in the final arc less plausible, which (again) is one of the problems I had with canon in the first place. How do I even get myself into these messes?
In any case, I thought that BaBS was only going to eat the end of Season 7. I was wrong. It's going to diverge wildly from canon in certain key aspects, each growing from the story's direction so far and hopefully not of the kind that will throw people out of the story. But I can say with some certainty that people will be clamoring for a sequel, even if "people" are here defined as magibrain.
