If Michael Bay wants a bigger house, let's help him...

My absence is due to many things. I have work, play, I was just in a wedding, having some family issues, and trying to consume as much media as possible.

Also attempting to write another story. Stuck at a partial first chapter and outline. I think it would go better if my work ethic was, you know, better. Hoping the outline will help kick my butt into gear.

When I write I am happier. I feel accomplished and artistic and smart. So its a healthy choice.

But then, so is exercise, and I only do that in spurts until I stop, realize I have reverted to sloth, and force myself outside again.

I did go trick-or-treating, in case you are wondering. Went in an old lady dress and painted myself to look dead. Woo!

To celebrate yet another American holiday centered around food, I have watched the film Thankskilling, starring this hilariously bad puppet.

Native American curse brings turkey back from the dead to kill the white man on Thanksgiving. Fast-forward 505 years into the future. Some dumb kids stumble upon this bird and start dying. It's very low budget but mocks itself a lot. Bird puns and bad language galore. The title screen on the DVD promises breasts within the first second of the movie. It delivered. Everything I assumed it would be. The Jonbenet Ramsey joke did make me laugh. ~guilty~

Also just watched Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap. Ice T directed this movie. He basically called a bunch of his friends up, asked them some questions, and filmed it. Apparently nothing like this has ever really been done before. It made me sorta sad.

Some of raps initial artists are getting old and won't be around for much longer. The guys from the late '70s and early '80s don't ever get credit from much. Rap is confrontational and it's current stars seem only concerned with the NOW. Who cares about the history of the genre? I have a boat.

This was a great time capsule for future generations who may eventually care enough to watch. And now I really, really want to listen to some old school stuff.

While I was very snobby about not listening to it while growing up, I now have flirtatious interests with rap and include a few of its artists into my favorites. Being all about the words, there is a lot of poetry, twists, wordplay I am anxious to learn from.

Reading a book called The Mole People: Life in the Tunnels in New York City. Very interesting. It's pretty old though, published in '95, so most of the time I'm thinking, "But what is it life down there now?"

The song in my subject, "Robocop 4: Fuck Off Robocop," was included in a CD the bf made for me. It also makes me laugh. It's about incessant strings of Hollywood sequels and is amazing.

"Pirates of the Caribbean 47/Johnny Depp stars as the robot pirate who loses his wife in a game of poker/and tries to win her back with hilarious consequences"

Listen to it here.

This song, "Balada de la trompeta" by Raphael is also included. We saw the movie clip in another movie called The Last Circus aka Balada triste de trompeta (renamed for American audiences, I assume, because they would not be familiar with the original song/movie as the Spanish moviegoer). When his voice starts matching the trumpet, it scared the heckarooni outta me for awhile. Also didn't help that I associated it with a killer clown movie. It's haunting either way.
