We found Zelenka dead today. I'd noticed that the water hadn't gone down as much as it normally would so went to their cage to look for them. I disturbed Carson who was asleep in the house but couldn't find Zel. Then I found him under some other bedding and he didn't seem to move. It is far too hot today. Ridiculously hot. I've spent much of today lying in bed, and likely to return there soon enough. It's too hot to do anything. Too hot to concentrate on anything. Daydreaming is a much more suitable thing to do in this weather ( Read more... )

My Amazon order hasn't arrived yet. Grrrr. I shouldn't really expect it to but knowing that it's on order makes it worse than waiting for the email saying "your order is in the post". My brother comes to visit on Monday for the week. So this weekend (particularly since we can't afford to go anywhere and Rat has no bus pass) is "tidy the house" weekend. Today was my first hamster show. A taxi arrived at 8:45 and me and the two little boys took the short trip to Radyr turning up far too early (at this time of day on a Saturday it only takes ten minutes to get as far as my office which really sucks when my daily communte takes ten minutes).
