end of the week...sort of
This week has gone far too fast so far. And it's getting worse.
1. I'm getting sick, which I absolutely can't afford. All right, I know, wrong reasoning, my body's telling me something, I need to slow down, I know, but wrong timing.
2. Tomorrow, I will make the first deciphering with a time limit. I will be given a number (unknown) of demotic ostraca with dates, and I have to read the dates by the end of the day (which is by 4:30, b/c I have a lecture at 5). It looks like a weird competition, but no, it's just plain work. The fun we Egyptologists have. I'm sending the results off to Egypt where they have 10 days to do the best they can with them. And you'd think there's no rush with dead Egyptians.
3. Friday morning I'll be teaching my first tai-ji lesson to a bunch of actors. Then I have a moment to rush to the train station, to fetch a friend I haven't seen for at least 10 years. I just hope I'll have time to really stay with her, because in the afternoon I'm leaving for a Taekwondo competition, my first one as Umpire. I'm quite afraid, because the responsibility is huge, and it's kids, so they're going to take each loss very badly. I still don't know when we are leaving, where from, and how we are going.
I'm coming back on Saturday night (late), which leaves Sunday for weekend. Then it's 10 days until Greece.
