Harry had predicted the end long before it came.
It was just the usual clichés; long nights at the office and unexplained absences. Over months, tiny, betraying details had become harder to ignore. But love demanded proof, so he waited. And hoped to be wrong.
But his instincts were rarely incorrect. When the inevitable occurred, Harry’s desperate pleas had stuck in his throat. He didn’t have the strength to fight for something which was already lost. There was no method to mend this, no right words to persuade Draco to stay.
And so Harry remained silent, and let him go.
