Funny he looks so comfortable with it since he said on JaniBen this week he'd never held a katana before he went to the katana museum on that show. I mean, I'm sure they filmed JaniBen ages ago, but they probably filmed the PV soon after that!

Ah, I didn't know that! ^^ As ever I am biased when it comes to Yoko, but I think in the video the three who look the most comfortable wielding swords were Yoko, Maru and Ryo (which would make sense for Ryo seeing the dramas that he's done.)

I also think they all look absolutely stunning in those outfits - I am a sucker for traditional-style Japanese clothing. I loved Yasu's!

Yeah, the guy was saying how it's about as heavy as a baseball bat, but I was totally calling BS on that because that was my sport and when I went to the katana exhibit and tried picking one up, I almost fell over. Plus no way the Sports Boy Yasu and Mr Boxer Yoko would be like OMG so heavy!! If it were only bat weight. But thank heavens that and Yasu cuddling a newborn baby were on that episode because the female guest was ridiculously awful ( ... )

I guess it also depends on whether it's an actual metal katana or a stage prop made of something lighter. I've never held a genuine katana other than a replica one and I would imagine that's far lighter than an authentic one! I've held re-enactment Medieval European swords and they were heavy enough, although I gather katanas are lighter. It's cool that you did baseball! The closest I've ever got is rounders, which is our (possibly far duller) British equivalent.

I haven't seen that JaniBen - I don't really watch them without subs, as I wouldn't know what was going on. Sounds cute though.

I don't know as much about Tacchon, sorry! ^^; You'd be the expert on his dramas. All I know is that I have watched Samurai Sensei far more times than any sane person should.

I'd love to see any of the Kanjani8 guys get married. The photos of the reception alone (if all of them were there) would just about finish me off. I really hope they can do that one day - it would be a shame for all that gorgeousness to go to waste. I want ( ... )

True. I can't imagine they'd force actors to do full training with real swords. But I'm sure some of them do that since they're pretty hardcore about their methods. I feel like the old medieval broadswords HAVE to be heavier than katanas. I mean, katanas are meant for slashing and broadswords were meant more for bashing. I tried picking up a broadsword at the Scottish Country Games in Chiba here but it was way too heavy for me. Then the head knight laughed at me. But he said it'd be cute if I tried to fight because I'd be like an anime character since I have such a high voice. I almost wanted to take medieval fighting classes just so I could come back and poke him in the chainmail for that one :P ( ... )

I think I'd cry my eyes out if one of the Eito boys got married and all of them didn't go to the ceremony. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't unless it was a huge blowout over a girl. Like if one of them were marrying Ryo's little sister and he was so furious about it he refused to go. Or something. I'm hoping JE is getting more relaxed, though, since so many Senpai are getting married! I kinda think it'd be cute if the rumors were true about Yoko and that announcer girl were true. They could totally get married; she's adorable and he actually talks around her..... which is uncommon. Plus they could munch on all their favorite foods all the time. I thought Hina & Taira Airi were so cute together, too, but she's marrying that soccer player. Bah. It's weird, though; people don't seem to get super angry about most Eito rumored girlfriends, but they throw giant fits with Tacchon's picks. First that Serina idol and then the actress... Yuriko? It was like KABOOM on the internet. Though I guess people freaked out a little with Ryo's, ( ... )

Oooooh, another Yoko photo dump - I've not even seen most of these! Traditional clothing, my weakness~ Thank you! *saves them all* And I totally didn't buy the limited edition version of Noroshi so I could make high-quality stills of their outfits... that crying one, though... ; ____ ( ... )

It's easier to find things when you can search in Japanese, I think. I guess they don't wear them often enough. I about fainted when I discovered the photobook pics for Yasu's kabuki play. He's so freaking gorgeous. And he looks like a badass with the tattoo. I wish I had a time machine so I could go back and see it. Or one to go back and force JE to release stage plays on DVDs ( ... )

Hnnngh, Yasu did kabuki? That's awesome! ^^ I generally find him more cute than sexy, but I do love his look in Noriko. Eh, I love them ALL in Noriko! Yasu's outfit just happens to be my second favourite! Aww, hell, I'd like just about *anyone* in traditional Japanese clothing... >___Kimi No Na Wa has been a big hit with Anime fans in the UK. I liked it, but it's not one of my favourites. I was lucky enough to see it in a cinema, since it got limited release over here - it was great hearing Kamiki's voice on the big screen! Well, not hearing it on the screen... you know what I mean! I'm going to presume you've already seen Kazoku Game too? I can't remember if it's been mentioned previously, sorry. That was what hooked me into being a Kamiki fan. Sulky teenage Kamiki versus sadistic older Sho. It's possibly my absolute favourite out of all the jdramas I've seen so far ( ... )

Also, yeah, sorry about Tacchon! ^^; I know it might sound weird, especially since I love Yoko so much. But the way I see it, Yoko's brattiness mainly comes across to me as his onscreen persona - he likes being the centre of attention and he's a smug bastard when it comes to getting things right (such as the Telephone Game), but from what I've read and seen he's a lot more quiet and helpful when he doesn't have a camera pointed at him. Tacchon, though - I've seen Tacchon storm off the set when they did the dodgeball game with Satoh Takeru and had to have a foot massage, and be sulky and reluctant to do more aerial yoga when he almost hurt himself, and when Matchy-san ranked them all on KanJam, Tacchon was pouty that his dramas didn't get mentioned... that comes across to me as being more like his real self than Yoko's bratty side. Please correct me if I'm wrong! And like I said, I may just have happened to watch things which are less flattering to Tacchon's personality. (It won't put me off watching him in dramas though!) True. Yoko does seem to have a double personality. I think Tacchon kinda plays things up for the camera a lot, too, though. The storming off thing, though... I've seen Ohno have a very similar reaction when they tried to do that foot acupressure thing to him, too, because he *hates* having his feet touched. So it could've just been that they hit on something he *really* doesn't like. He was OK getting his ass whacked with a bat, burning his tongue on spicy curry, and having to smell a stinky sock..... so he can play along sometimes. Did you ever watch the Granny Gestures game he and Hina used to do? He was always so sweet and polite with the elderly couples. And I've seen a few things where he went solo to promote things and he's pretty quiet and well-mannered. In fact, he's probably the best mannered out of Eito, though Ryo comes pretty close because he's so shy. Tacchon was positively silent when he went on Arashi ni Shiyagare by himself. I think he only lets his temper fly when he's around his 'brothers.' So maybe, like real ( ... )

Not like...traditional Kabuki, but he did a stageplay of a Kabuki story. I guess it's about a rich man from the countryside who's half scarred over half his body, even his face (though in Yasu's case they just painted him with badass tats) who falls in love at first sight with a famous courtesan. The ending is pretty dramatic, though, from what I read of it so I wish I could've see it. There's a fancam version uploaded, though, so maybe I'll make do with that ( ... )
