So, early this morning Goldenvoice dropped what will be the back bone of the majority of this summers festivals. Sure this is the Coachella line up, but really aside from the main headliners they are all for the most part the same. Lollapalooza is usually a great deal different but that has to do with it being much later in the year. The two years that I have gone, I've at least had interest in one of the headliners. This year however as it stands now I have zero interest in the main headliners and only a very small interest in maybe one of the secondary headliners. With all the people that we're supposedly negotiated with this is VERY underwhelming. Bowie doing Ziggy Stardust, Outkast, Radiohead, Neil Young, U2, Blur, Pavement, Tricky, and Daft Punk. Some of these much weaker than others and obviously not all would headline, but any of them would be better than what they got for the headliners. I have to figure something else will be added for Saturday because The Killers and Amy Winehouse is pretty fucking weak and they did say that big things would happen for the 10th anniversary, so I'm hoping Bowie, Radiohead Outkast, or Neil Young will get added that day. Last year after they negotiated with Prince forever they said that he would not be there and two weeks after the line up was announced he was added so something will likely happen. All that said though, it might not be a bad thing if the headliners are shit in my eyes. There are a lot of acts on the list that are excellent. By far the best performances I've seen there were all non-headliners. I did really enjoy the headliners I've watched but they are a very small portion of the magnificent stuff I've seen in the two years that I attended. Anyhow here's the lineup, and now I have lots of band myspace pages to visit.
