The fumes from (mostly) boiling concentrated nitric acid (HNO3) can not only turn my purple neoprene gloves weird shades, but can cause them to fail (rip, tear). At least was quick to notice the failure - esp. around my left hand's wrist area.

Avoiding corrosive acid burns is a good thing..
