"Super" Weekend

Update Stuff

This was a moderately busy weekend for the doctor, starting off with seeing the war/holocaust movie Defiance with pixelmonster and LJ-less 'stooge' Larry. It was a good, solid WW II based on the Jewish Bielski partisans in German occupied Eastern Poland/western Belarus. This was a much better choice of movie than the usual Hollywood 'fluff' or angst-ridden emo academy award nominated crap of late.

Saturday night was a time of mega-shiny imaging, as I and a couple astro-buddies spent most of the night under the stars. Though I'm still having problems with the auto-guider, at least I know now the damned thing works - it is now a matter of setting up the right parameters for the main scope. Many galaxies and star clusters were imaged - including Whirlpool Galaxy, aka "M51".

So get ready for some new astro-shiny posted later this week. In the meantime, here's a GOOD image of Saturn taken at the end of the night (4 AM).

Super bowled

How many of you saw the Super Bowl - or even cared that it was on? I didn't see any of the pre-game crap, and only saw bits and pieces of the game until the 4th quarter. After that, it was a wild ride until the finish. A Great Game, though I hesitate to call it "the best evar".
