It's been weeks that Declan has been away from the Old City Sanctuary, away from everything and everyone that he loves, dealing with a seemingly unceasing supply of problems ranging from a backup in the abnormal intake process, to a sudden lag time in the computer system. He'd had to help Henry's overseas counterpart dismantle and reassemble the system not once, but TWICE, before they had everything lined out and running properly again.
Now that he was back, on the ground and driving back to the Sanctuary, Declan was more than ready to sneak in the door and collapse onto his bed. But there was one thing he needed, more than even sleep right now. He needed Ashley.
Declan, in his tiredness, bumped his shoulder against the door facing as he crossed the threshold of his room. He hissed and dropped his bags against the wall just inside the room before turning and making his way to a door that was all-too-familiar...and one that he hadn't seen in far too long. He pulled up slowly and knocked lightly, hoping she was there...and awake, especially given the hour. It was bloody late and he hadn't even realized it. He hoped she wouldn't brain him for waking her, if he had.
He leaned up against the doorframe and closed his eyes as he waited for her to open up.
