Long distance travel.

One of the drawbacks of lab work is that somethings need doing at a certain time. Like cells needing more food/space (or less waste). So when the trains went on strike I had to go in to work. So I cycled. Actually it only took 20 minutes longer than my normal commute (ie 90 minutes), as the Thames valley is flat. But then you have to add another 15 minutes for recovery and shower afterwards.
Cycling home (via a different route) I got more lost, and was into the wind, but it still took the same time. One long cycle a day is bearable. The return left me nursing a strained knee (I now have a ligament that only hurts when I cycle) and with numb fingers and toes: the handlebars and pedals on the bike are far from ergonomic. I'm just thankful that I'll be in France for the next two strikes.

Today saw me babysaxon-sitting, as cuthbertcross's dad is warming up the flat in France. Just like crawling was something that suddenly she could do, as soon as she saw the point of it, walking is rapidly being achieved. I didn't actually see her longest walk of the day - Just heard the thumping crash as she ran and hands-first into the dishwasher door, followed by the manic giggling.
