Random update
As it's been well over a month since my last post I thought I'd write a bit before I forget what I've done and seen. But only in brief ....
What feels like a life ago but was probably only a month I went to Nottingham with Toby with the goal of eating at the hard rock cafe, browsing the shops and watching a film. Unfortunately it was absolutely peeing it down in good old British summer fashion, so we decided to abandon the shopping bit. Then when we got to where Hard rock was, it wasn't! When did that happen? We couldn't believe our eyes to the point where we assumed we had the wrong place, walked around a lot of the adjoining roads, then phoned someone to look it up on the internet thinking maybe they moved location. But nope. From what we could determine there is no Hard Rock Cafe in Nottingham any more :( We still made it to the cinema and watched the latest X files movie: I want to believe. It was OK but felt more like an extended TV episode than a cinema worthy movie.
Anyway then it was off to Finland for a week for me for the 4th European Symposium on Aerobiology at Turku, Finland. Which was oh so very dull!
Then back late Saturday to leave early Sunday for a trip to Austria. Now this was much more pleasant. I went with Tony, Trudie and Joce and we met up with a friend of theirs called Nick who drove across from where he lives in Germany. On the Monday we climbed a mountain - which was beautiful but killed me! So on the Tuesday we sent the boys off to climb another mountain and Trudie and I walked to a lake and read our books chilling in the sun. Wednesday Nick left so the four of us that remained walked to the lake again (in theory to catch a boat), but unfortunately this was our one day of rain, we got soaked, and the boats weren't running! Then on the Thursday we drove to Salzburg as that was where Joce was flying back to the UK from, and we did some site seeing around the city and ate a fab Sushi. Then on the Friday I took a two hour train journey through some of the most beautiful countryside I've seen to get back to Linz to fly back to the UK, leaving T&T to enjoy the rest of their holiday in peace :)
Got back on the Friday to drive to London on the Sunday for Izzy's BBQ which was a great opportunity to catch up with a lot of friends :)
The following weekend minions_wanted came to visit which is always fun :) And on the Saturday min_t hosted her scones party which was good fun and another excuse to catch up with peeps.
On the Sunday minions_wanted, Toby & I went to watch HellboyII: The Golden Army, which whilst admittedly very very cheesy - was for me an enjoyable film :)
Then to round things off the next weekend (last weekend) I again drove to London, but this time to be part of a surprise meal that my Mum had arranged for her partner Mike's 70th birthday. Used it as an excuse to catch up with Catherine, Mark, & Amber, and Izzy & Danny on the Saturday, and my brother & Sadie and my sister & James on the Sunday.
