As you already know, my name is Dr. Angel-Cann, and I am a professor of English. This is my seventh year as a full-time professor at Collin College, but I have been teaching at the college level since 1998. I have also taught freshman composition and various literature courses at the University of North Texas and Tarrant County College. I have a Ph.D. in British Literature, from the Romantic Era to the present, but I also do a lot of work with popular culture, particularly in the areas of science fiction and fairy tales. My current project is a study of fairy tale elements in films for grown-ups, but I have also presented papers about Harry Potter and Battlestar Galactica.
I love to go to the movies, and you might run into me at one of the area movie theaters from time to time. One of my favorite films of all time is Edward Scissorhands. (And not just because it has Johnny Depp in it!) I also really like the films of Tim Burton. (Again, not just because they often have Johnny Depp in them!) I like them because they are usually quirky and make me laugh. I also really enjoy the films of Peter Jackson. I am eagerly anticipating his vision of The Hobbit.
I also read a lot. I recently finished Erin Morgenstern's The Night Circus and loved every second of reading it. I am currently reading Tea Obrect's The Tiger's Wife, and I have to admit that I am not enjoying it very much, but I am determined to finish it because all of the reviews I have read praise it. My goal for the year is to read 75 books, and I have currently completed six, so I'm ahead in my goal.
What else would you like to know?
