So Many Hipsters

I'm completely exhausted at the moment. I had my lighting exam at 8 this morning, and I'm pretty sure I passed. However, it hurt my head in ways not seen since JFK went driving by that book depository.

And speaking of death cabs (yeah, I know I'm going to hell)

Death Cab for Cutie and Franz were great last night. Mike and I got prime real estate on the floor, so both bands were literally about 20 feet away from us. The show opened with a British trio called The Cribs. While they were a bit "screamo" for my taste, they looked like they were having the time of their lives, and that's all that matters I suppose. Franz took the stage after that, played about 12 songs. Oddly enough, they played Take Me Out in the middle of their set, which I was convinced they were going to save for their closing. They ended instead with This Fire. Big Ups to the 4 kids trying to start a mosh to fucking Franz Ferdinand. You keep on reaching for that dream little hipsters!

Death Cab was next, and honestly, probably one of the best bands I've been fortunate to see live. The energy those guys had was unbelievable, and so was the music. Midway through Title and Registration, the fire alarm went off. We didn't have to evacuate, but it continued for about 15 minutes, all the while Ben Gibbard's trying to play in tune with it. Finally, he starts cracking up laughing, telling us the fire department has to come and turn it off. "Of all the places to trip a fire alarm, You'd think a fucking ice rink would be pretty low on the list." Right on Ben.

They came back out to play a 3 song encore. They ended with Transatlanticism, during which time, maybe three people pulled out lighters, and the remaining 7,997 people pulled out...

cell phones.

Fucking LCD screen cell phones. Jesus, I had a hard time keeping in my laughter. McLuhan must have been shitting himself up in heaven.

We got back to Scarberia at 1, which probably explains why I'm so fucking tired. Completely worth it though. Alright, I'm off to get some sleep.
