Casselman, Ontario, at 4:20 am Saturday morning, CN train 584 west with 100 cars including 72 of military equipment. Four locomotives for power.

They sent trains of equipment west a few months ago, and now they're coming back to Petawawa, Ontario. I don't know the details but presumably there was a big exercise in western Canada. Since there are no rail lines across central Ontario anymore... these shipments have to run east all the way to Coteau, Quebec, then turn northwestward through Ottawa to Pembroke for off-loading.
Tonight's train 584 east through Casselman is led by CN 4706 with a horn apparently from the Illinois Central!
This train includes the power and 35 empty long flatcars that were used for the military train last week.

This train is running from Ottawa to Coteau Yard.
CN train 584 west makes an unusual daytime run with some special cargo.
Three locomotives (4706/4703/4800) for power; 30 mixed freight cars and 45 military equipment flatcars.
They are making good time by Farmers Way, just a few miles from Walkley yard.
Once in Ottawa, the military equipment will continue to Pembroke on the Beachburg subdivision.

An impressive 584 of general freight to begin with, but add on another batch of empty flatcars from the military trains of yesterday and last week and you have 5300 feet of train!

It's 11:59 p.m. Sunday evening, and CN train 584 is running through Casselman with three locomotives and 80 cars from Ottawa to Coteau. The train consists of 6 tank cars (the usual fare), and 74 empty flatcars from last week's military trains to Pembroke.
