I adore the way things happen. I hate to call it "coincidence," even with things as trivial as this: popping in after getting the wardrobe cleared up tonight, I hunkered down with my laptop downstairs to chat with a friend. Turning on the TV and meaning to put the volume down some, my finger slipped to the channel button and I ended up on one of the local channels and what should be on but a Doctor Who special all about Ten, Sarah Jane, Rose and Mr. Finch! It was a gorgeous moment, realizing what I'd stumbled on. I only wish I'd caught more of it!
And speaking of the Doctor, I am pleased to the point of beaming to welcome
beatles_me to the fold of viewers! She's only just started in on S1, but the results so far have been promising ;)
So not only did I come home to a nice chat with a friend, but I *finally* got a response to my Wizard Wire! penpal exchange via snail mail. Wootage! It was a fabulous, lengthy note and I now have one more person to look forward to meeting in... 17 days! ZOMG!
Annnnndd... I just have to to include my Red Dragon LOL moment, one over which I giggled loudly backstage tonight when I came upon it (confirming my spot on the crew as a deranged, tiny gelfling-esque maniac). Scene: Francis Dolarhyde, preparing to view the original Blake watercolor "The Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed with the Sun." As his "Dragon" voice takes over, he attempts to cover it up with what, to me, was a spot of hilarity. Let us take a look...
Dolarhyde couldn't hold it anymore. Play for it all, right now.
But the Dragon moved first. "I'VE NEVER SEEN--"
"What?" Miss Harper's eyes were wide.
"--a rat that big!" Dolarhyde said, pointing. "Climbing that frame!" (Chapter 41, pg 284)
See, my first thought was "Opossum in the art museum! Look out!" Maybe it's because the last few chapters have been so entrenched in the mind of the psychopath and far from giggle-worthy, but this would have set me rolling had I been anywhere besides backstage.
Finally, this mom goes right onto my list of Top Parental Units of all time:
