Some questions about two Sirs

Have put under a cut because I'm not sure what the comm's spoiler policy is, but the questions only ask about one S2 character (no spoilers) and one S1 character.

I've been wondering what the difference between Sir Anthony Strallen and Sir Richard Carlisle's titles are. I think AS is a baronet, like Sir Walter Elliot in Persuasion (both referred to as Sir {first-name}), but RC is referred to in the same way, and yet Mary said RC was "well on his way to a peerage". Well doesn't a baronetcy count as a peerage?

Also, Edith called AS's late wife "Lady Strallen", but that doesn't make her the equivalent of Cora, "Lady Grantham", and AS isn't called "Lord Strallen", so how come his late wife has the same sort of title as Cora?

Finally, if RC were to marry, would his wife then be "Lady Carlisle"? Or is his title actually completely different to AS's, and therefore his wife's would be different to Maud's too?

ETA: What if either had any children?

Would really appreciate if anyone could help me clear this up! =D
